Isle Royale is a remote island located in Lake Superior and home to a population of wolves and moose. These wolves and moose are the subject of the Isle Royale wolf-moose project, now in its 55th year. It is the longest study of any predator-prey system in world. The purpose of the project has been to observe and understand the dynamic fluctuations of Isle Royale’s wolves and moose. In addition to ecological insights, the wolves and moose of Isle Royale have also contributed important insight on a variety of topics in environmental philosophy, helping us better understand the most basic aspects of our relationship with nature.  Dr. John Vucetich is an Associate Professor of animal ecology, and co-director of the Isle Royale Wolf-Moose Project.
